We built MaxHome to keep your family's data private. Here's exactly how that works.
Last Updated: March 13, 2026MaxHome is a private family assistant app built by Dylan Mill. Our goal is simple: give families a powerful, AI-powered home hub — without compromising your privacy.
MaxHome comes in two modes:
Runs entirely on your own server at home. Your data never leaves your house and never touches our servers.
We host everything for you on secure cloud servers. Great for families who want a hassle-free setup.
This policy applies to both modes, but some sections — particularly around data storage — work very differently depending on which mode you use. We'll be clear about that throughout.
We only collect what's needed to make the app work. Here's what that looks like:
| Data | Why We Need It |
|---|---|
| Account info Name, phone number |
To create and manage your account |
| Family profiles Names, ages, roles (e.g. parent, child) |
To personalize the experience for each family member |
| Chat messages What you type to the AI assistant |
To generate responses from the AI |
| App content Calendar events, reminders, grocery lists, notes, budget entries, recipes, package tracking info, photos |
To power the features you use |
| Location Your approximate location |
To fetch local weather — not stored, not shared |
| Push notification token | To send you reminders and alerts on your device |
We use your location only to look up the weather. It's used in the moment and never written to any database — ours or yours.
Your data is used to run the app — nothing else. Specifically:
Where your data lives depends entirely on which mode you're using.
Everything stays on your own hardware at home. We have no access to your data. Zero. It never leaves your network unless you make it.
Your data is stored on secure, encrypted cloud servers. We use industry-standard practices to keep it safe.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your data to anyone. We retain your data only as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your data is deleted.
We keep third-party involvement to a minimum. Here's what you should know:
We don't embed trackers, analytics SDKs, or third-party advertising in the app.
If you're running MaxHome Home, your data never leaves your server. The only third-party interaction is the AI processing for chat (if you've configured it) and weather — both of which you control.
MaxHome is designed for families, which means children may use the app. We take this seriously.
MaxHome is a family tool — accounts are created and managed by parents or guardians. Children's profiles (name, age, role) are added by the account holder, who is responsible for providing appropriate consent on behalf of minors in their household.
We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and applicable children's privacy laws.
You're in control of your data. Here's what you can do at any time:
To exercise any of these rights, you can use the in-app settings or reach us at info@maxhome.app. We'll respond within 30 days.
If you're in the EU or California, you have additional rights under GDPR and CCPA respectively. We honor all applicable regulations — just reach out.
We take security seriously. For MaxHome Cloud:
For MaxHome Home, security is in your hands — your data lives on your own server, so securing that server is your responsibility. We recommend keeping your server software up to date and using a strong network password.
No system is 100% immune to attack, but we do everything reasonable to keep your data safe. If you discover a security issue, please report it to info@maxhome.app.
If we update this privacy policy, we'll post the updated version here with a new "Last Updated" date. For significant changes, we'll notify you in the app or by other means so you're never caught off guard.
Continuing to use MaxHome after a policy update means you accept the updated terms. If you don't agree with a change, you can delete your account at any time.
